While the Rocinante is on Tycho station for repairs, Amos is headed to Earth, and Alex to Mars to see his family. Marco Inaros’s son Filip, and his team attack the science ship U.N.S. Hasami near Venus kills everyone on board and steals the data core about a
rock that is coming to destroy Hasami, and the comm buffer of it. This rock is part of multiple coordinated attacks that Marco has put in motion, and when Avasarala learns about Hasami is intrigued to know what is happening. Naomi learns from Fred that
her son and his team are at Pallas station, and she arranges to go to him alone, even though Jim offers to go with her. Jim finds out from Fred that he has protomolecule in his possession, and tries to make him understand the grave danger he and everyone
else will be if it is released. Jim informs him also about the artifact on Ilus, and tells Fred that all those passings through the Rings, are waking these entities up, who made the Rings, and destroyed the protomolecule builders. But, Fred doesn’t believe him.
