While Callen keeps dreaming of the man who was watching him at the cemetery, who cannot catch him or see his face, Hetty worries for him and arranges to find him a house and move out of Sam’s place. Later, Hetty informs Callen’s team that Deeks is missing, and he hasn’t contacted his partner, Detective Jess Traynor, for several hours. Deeks works an undercover assignment to make a case against Emilio Philip Ortega, who is involved in a human trafficking ring. Fourteen hours earlier Ortega and his bodyguard were killed with a bomb in their car. Jess informs Callen and his team, and when she gets to her car is killed also by a bomb, in front of Callen, Sam, and Kensi. Detective Frank Scarli is leading the case for LAPD, and he doesn’t want Callen’s help or involvement. But Hetty gives Callen permission to find out where Deeks is and what is happening.
