It’s been a year since Markovians were defeated and the death of Bill Henderson has left a mark on Jefferson who hasn’t been Black Lightning during this time. He also has problems with his wife and they see a therapist, but their differences and the way they see things are growing their distance between them. Their kids also create more troubles for them, by being reckless as Lightning and Thunder. Jefferson in order to protect a black boy from police brutality exposes himself to the new Chief of Police, Ana Lopez, who wants to document every meta and to know where everyone is all the time. Also, Tobias Whale gives a lot of money to the city of Freeland to rebuild and he is presented as a hero, something Jefferson doesn’t like or wants to accept. Tobias also wants to clean up all the drug activity in the city, something Lala doesn’t agree on. Lynn continues her experimentations on Gravedigger’s push powers, to isolate the meta gene. Detective Hassan Shakur gives a letter to Jefferson from Bill which tells him to trust Hassan as he trusted him.
